Wednesday Wondering: Needful Change

Hi... 
As we all know, our social institutions are the bedrock of a civil democracy. Increasingly, the writing is on the wall that there is need for revolutionary change among them to ensure heightened relevance, sustainability and overall effectiveness. To use military language: our current approach to change is generally akin to re-arming, while the more critical need for re-tooling is largely ignored.
Thinking especially about our schools, I wonder what it might take for the latter to be effected in the current climate.
