The picturesque landscape dressed with trees Alone or weaved in canopies Strong roots drive deep to find water near Their fragrance fills the atmosphere Beneath broad foliage which they boast Trees make accommodating hosts Providing shade from the sun’s glazed glare And nests of happy creatures, bear From their bounty, many trees provide Finest fruits, whether fresh or dried They’re air filters and constantly A source of wood and energy We learn from trees, like the oak, indeed Which sprouted from a tiny seed That grandeur oft begins quite small And struggles strengthen, overall With leafy arms upraised to the skies Trees tell of hope that never dies They manifest power that’s indwelled Which springs anew when they are felled Like leaves, ideas can come and go But truth, deep-seated, never so Erosion is foiled by rootedness And oak-steady devotedness In lots of ways, we resemble trees Maybe as plain as a-b-c’s Firmly planted, e’er seeking to be A source of life to all we see David A.
