Hello and happy Friday!
This has been a week of unbearably hot weather, punctuated by sudden rain and thunderstorms in much of Eastern Canada. Isn't it amazing how nature speaks? What wonder in its self-modulating ways. Ironically, this experience reminds me of my younger days in the tropics, as expressed in the following except from the poem, "Youngsters in Rainy-Day Play" (which appears in Let's Do Lemonade): With the onset of rain Our dear, foreboding elders Long settled indoors Would beckon us in from their comfortable perch With deep concern and certain insistence That we would catch germs in the runoff Or equally catastrophic That we would contract a cold Because of heads uncovered in the lively torrents .......... Albeit, quite interestingly If we ignored or delayed following the adult-directive To get indoors immediately Sudden roars of thunder Under mysteriously blackened skies And the rapid claps of lightning Would conspiringly make a compelling case to relocate More so than the dreaded prospect of discipline By switch or strap Which kept friendly company with our elders All together cool and dry #thunderstorm #heatwave #climatechange
