Crossings

Greetings...
My walk home from a recent appointment, included crossing the railway tracks by the local Go Train Station.
There, at the crossing, I noticed a pavement decal that reads: Look, Listen, Live! [Apparently, this signage is part of a program by municipalities to promote rail safety.] Then I began thinking that truly, there is wisdom in these words, particularly in a proactive, preventative sense, and with extensions beyond the obvious.
An implication is that while we trust our senses, it is best not to rely on only one - per chance something goes amiss. Additionally, as part of daily life, it is simply smart to STOP, look, listen, and LEARN about what is coming in our direction, whether potentially life-threatening or life-giving. How often do we take foolish or uninformed risks, or miss out on wholesome opportunities, or engage in other regret-spawning initiatives, from not heeding these words? 
Life-intersections are cause for conscious pause. Especially in times where we may feel doubtful, overwhelmed, anxious, or stressed, we do well to apply the wisdom inherent in the instruction to:
stop, look, listen, learn, and really live.
